Ume Plum Sake

For many centuries the Ume tree has been a symbol fort he coming spring in both, China and Japan, because it blossoms already at the end of January. Similar to the famous Sakura cherry blossoms, the Ume bloom is celebrated with countless festivals and special ceremonies.

Japanese rarely eat Ume directly – rather the fruit is enjoyed as a pickled «plum» over rice or mixed with Shochu as a traditional plum wine. Our version, however, is made with premium Sake to balance the acidity of the Ume with the soft sweetness of the Sake.

• UME Sake, 500ml, 12% Alc. Vol.
• Alcoholic beverage with alcohol based on rice and Ume-plum juice.
• Ingredients: Ume-plum-juice 25,5%, water, sugar, brewers alcohol, Sake 3,7% (alcoholic beverage based on rice, ingredients: water, rice, yeast, koji (aspergillus oryzae)). Refrigerate after opening. Not suitable for pregnant women. Product of Japan.

Brand History

In the beginning, there were just three Sake-Fans who were wondering why it was so difficult to get a really good Sake in Europe. A few years and many Sake seminars, brewery visits, and tasting events later, they had gained a clear understanding of the problem: Sake in Europe was either served as low quality, piping hot company to Sushi or – if available in premium qualities – was difficult or impossible for the average customer to understand or even relate to; not to mention that premium Sake used to be way too expensive.

Their answer to these issues was Île Four. This western-sounding name simply means the ‘four islands of Japan’ – but this name precisely reflects their program! Their self-appointed task as Western Sake experts is to build a bridge between this fantastic and extraordinarily versatile traditional Japanese drink and our modern Western lifestyle.
